With two of the favourites and best performing drivers, Team Germany claimed the Nations Cup on Saturday at the ROC (Race of Champions). Schumacher and Vettel however, did not see the same degree of success at last night's Champion of Champions race at the Bangkok Rajamangala Stadium.
Instead, F1 star Romain Grosjean thrilled the audience with his outstanding performance, edging out his competitors in a number of platforms to be crowned the Champion of Champions 2012.
The Frenchman's debut in ROC was only two years ago, which saw him finishing his best of semi finalist. This year, Grosjean took out the current F1 champion, Sebastian Vettel, and hot favourite Michael Schumacher in the quarter and semi finals respectively.
The semi finals saw the participation of Tom Kristensen, David Coulthard, Romain Grosjean, and Michael Schumacher - winners of each respective group. Kristensen put up a formidable fight against Coulthard in the Audi R8 LMS, propelling him to the grand finals.
Likewise, Grosjean was equally as convincing in the KTM X-Bow, dealing the blow to seven-time F1 champion Schumacher.
Grosjean went on to meet Tom Kristensen - the endurance racing legend with eight-time Le Mans 24 Hour and six-time 12 Hours of Sebring under his belt. Grosjean scored a two to nil win in the best of three final, piloting the KTM X-Bow and ROC Car.
Last year, Kristensen was also knocked out in the final stage, losing to 2011 champion Sebastien Ogier.
