Texas-based hypercar manufacturer Hennessey, has released details of its upcoming Venom F5 Roadster ahead of the car's global debut. The car is based on the Hennessey Venom F5 Coupe, both cars being nearly identical mechanically apart from the different roofs.
Mid-mounted in the carbon fibre monocoque chassis is Hennessey's twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre 'Fury' V8 engine that is rated at 1,817bhp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a robust automated single clutch gearbox. The car also possesses a dry weight of under 1,406kg and a top speed exceeding 482km/h.
1,817bhp and a dry weight of just under 1,406kg makes the Venom F5 Roadster a Chiron beater, on paper at least In contrast to the F5 Coupe, the F5 Roadster has a roof that has been re-engineered with a removable panel crafted from rigid carbon fibre composites. The single piece roof is fully insulated against the elements and lined with Alcantara upholstery. It also weighs a featherweight 8kg, making removal and installation a one-person job.
The Venom F5 Roadster also features a new tempered glass engine viewing window. The panel that is in the middle of the rear engine cover allows easier viewing to the 'Fury' V8 engine. The glass panel is an engineering marvel, being able to withstand aerodynamic forces exceeding 482km/h and temperatures beyond 540 degrees Celsius.
Another differentiating factor from the coupe are the Roadster's unique wheels. These are forged aluminium alloy items that have been milled to a high standard. The lightweight wheels feature seven pairs of spokes each resembling an elongated Hennessey 'H'.

Engine compartment's glass lid can withstand aerodynamic forces exceeeding 482km/h and 540 degrees Celsius Owners may opt to upgrade the Hyper Silver wheels to highly polished aluminium. Hennessey claims that this is a unique finishing that requires weeks to complete by hand. The wheels are also secured with titanium nuts for strength, heat tolerance and anti-corrosion properties.
Discerning Roadster buyers may also specify any exterior and interior colour combination or leave areas of the Venom F5's carbon fibre chassis and body panels exposed. Opting for either a gloss or satin finish will allow for the stunning woven composite to be appreciated fully.
The Venom F5 Roadster will be manufactured in Texas in an exclusively low volume of just 30 units. Each of them will be priced at $4,165,575 with each of the 30 being personalised examples individually commissioned by their owners.
