Holden reveals the Commodore SS V-Series Special Edition

The Commodore is basically a rebadged Pontiac G8, and the new SS V-Series Special Editions uses monikers culled from other GM American brands, like the Super Sport from Chevrolet and Cadillac’s V-Series badge. The cars are available as a four-door sedan, five-door estate or a Ute pickup truck version.

The Commodore SS V-Series cars boasts of a whole host of features, but the most noticeable is the use of the Pontiac G8 GT double kidney grille as well as aggressive hood scoops. A rear spoiler and chrome accents complete the styling package, while the cars are available in colours such as Phantom Black, Red Hot and Voodoo Blue.

Despite the sporty nature of the upgrades, the Commodore SS V-Series will be focused on efficiency. As such, there won’t be a throaty V8 under the hood. Instead, the SS V-Series will have a 3.6-litre direct injection V6 mated to a frugal four-speed automatic transmission.
