Honda and Nissan explore possible merger
20 Dec 2024|147 views
Facing stiff competition from EV manufacturers such as, but not limited to, Tesla and BYD, Japanese car manufacturers Honda and Nissan have been understood to have held discussions regarding a possible merger to help them compete on the playing field.
Having already forged a partnership in March 2024 to cooperate in their EV development, both brands came together again in August 2024, for battery development among others, and also announced an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors to discuss intelligence and electrification of automobiles.
This comes amidst a widening industry shift from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric, with both brands struggling to keep up with other EV makers, particularly in China.
