It was a sporty coupé that actually had the performance to match its looks. Naturally, the automotive press loved it.
What the public loved was the Genesis Coupé's affordable price. 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds plus, a sub $30k (US) price. What's not to love, right?
Well for 2011, the Hyundai Genesis Coupé 3.8 has even more to love. Thanks to the addition of the 2.0T's R-Spec package, buyers can upgrade their suspension and brakes™right from the factory.
The R-Spec package adds a stiffer suspension, Brembo brakes with 13-inch ventilated front disks, a limited-slip differential, a front camber adjustment bolt (at the buyer's discretion), sport seats, R-Spec badges, and unique 19-inch wheels.
Since the 3.8 R-Spec is all about performance, some standard equipment has been deleted to save weight. To start, R-spec's get a (much lighter) manual air conditioning unit, no automatic headlamps, and no cruise control. Some interior trim pieces are also deleted.
What's left is a very agile and very capable car - sort of what you'd expect when you see it.
The Genesis Coupé 3.8 R-Spec also gets some other (range-wide) improvements. Including; padded door armrests, better interior materials, and enhanced graphics on the dash mounted display.
There's also a new Navigation system. But, it's too heavy to go in an R-Spec™
