Hyundai Motor Company and K-pop powerhouse BTS are celebrating World Environment Day with a new digital film for its Global Hydrogen Campaign.
The new film features a narration by BTS that highlights renewable hydrogen as a 'positive energy', where BTS metaphorically relates hydrogen to water, aiming to send a message to millennials that hydrogen is a clean, eco-friendly alternative to fossil fuels.
Hyundai's flagship fuel cell electric vehicle, the Nexo appears, throughout the film. It represents the company's commitment to sustainable mobility, using hydrogen fuel as a positive energy source.
As the Global Brand Ambassador for Hyundai, BTS has been promoting sustainable mobility under the slogan 'BecauseofYou', and has helped the brand communicate its sustainability messages to millennials.
Earlier this year, the world-renowned group starred in another film presenting Hyundai's clean mobility vision, which screened on a digital billboard at Times Square in New York City. The group's seven members also arrived at the 62nd Grammy Awards in the ultimate zero-emission vehicle, the Nexo.
In conjunction with the ongoing Global Hydrogen Campaign, Hyundai will also launch the hashtag 'PositiveEnergy' challenge on TikTok - a global short video platform - from 5 June 2020 until 19 June 2020.
The event will encourage TikTok users to sing along to 15 seconds of pre-released short film featuring the new campaign tune, and upload their clips with various hashtags.
Hyundai x BTS merchandise made of upcycled materials will be given to selected participants. A 19-second teaser debuted on 1 June 2020 and the full 90-second version premiered globally on the company's official YouTube channel on 4 June 2020, ahead of World Environment Day.
