Infiniti recalls G35 sedans and coupes

The fault that triggered the recall is a glitch with a wiring harness connecting the belt tension sensor (BTS) and the occupant detection sensor (ODS) control unit under the front passenger seat that may prevent the passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.

The problem affects 134,215 Infiniti G35s sold in the US, including G35 sedans made from 2004 to 2006, as well as G35 coupes made from 2004-2007, and Infiniti has voluntarily initiated the recall exercise.

The American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not commented on the issue, but stated that Infiniti's parent company Nissan has not informed the agency of any details regarding a fix for the problem.
