DS Automobiles has released the new DS 3, now with a new shape which exudes a sense of dynamism and feeling of solidity, while maintaining an elegant design ethos, the defining hallmark of the DS brand.
The new DS 3 has not only evolved design wise, but technically as well. The new spoiler and grille have been totally redesigned to optimise the car's aerodynamic performance. The aerofoils framing the lower air intake grille help out with efficiency.
The DS3 will be offered in a wide range of unique body colours which are either opaque, metallic or pearlescent Seven body colours are offered, opaque, metallic and pearlescent, including two new pearlescent colours: Diva Red, a three-layer colour exclusive to the new DS 3, and Lacquered Grey. Crystal Pearl, Platinum Grey, Artense Grey, Perla Nera Black and Polar White complete the offering with the option of two variations of roof: Perla Black or the new Carat Grey.
The DS 3 will also boast a premium interior, with Nappa leather upholstery and the weathered Art Leather finish, alcantara, and details such as the 'pearl' stitching or Clous de Paris embossed inserts showing the creative nature of a DS interior.
As for the electric variant of the DS 3, the DS 3 E-Tense offers 154bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. It will also possess a range of up to 402km. Thermal control of its new new 54kWh battery is done through liquid circulation and a heat pump, enabling rapid charging, better range and increased lifespan.
The architecture has been optimised. With improved energy density, the battery is very compact and distributed beneath the front and rear seats and centre tunnel. Usability and driving position are absolutely identical to those of other drivetrains and impact resistance exceeds the most stringent requirements.
Those who prefer a more conventional powertrain can opt from two petrol drivetrains, a PureTech 100 with six-speed manual gearbox and PureTech 130 with eight-speed automatic gearbox. A Diesel BlueHDi 130 with an eight-speed automatic gearbox is also on offer. In these two guises, these engines comply with the most recent anti-pollution standards.
