Clean, electrified logistics is set to get quite the boost here in Singapore, thanks to the arrival of two new all-electric commercial vehicles hailing from Korea.
Both vehicles were launched at ChargedUp, an electric vehicle conference held at the Singapore Management University.
Kicking things off is the new KGM Musso EV. For those not in the know, KGM (short for KG Mobility) isn't new to making vehicles: The firm previously operated under the SsangYong name but has since been renamed after its acquisition by the Korean KG Group. The renaming is is reported to have been done to mark a formal break from the insolvency issues that marked the final years during which the brand operated under the SsangYong name.
But that's enough of a history lesson. Workman and contractors interested in securing a new, quieter and less pollutive means of getting from worksite to worksite here will want to know that the new all-electric KGM Musso EV makes use of an 80.6kWh battery, giving the vehicle a WLTP range of 420km.
This battery animates a 152kW motor in the Musso EV and can be charged at up to 120kW when you're plugged into a direct current charger. Charging via an alternating current charger will see the vehicle charging up at a maximum power of 11kW.
The KGM Musso EV has adjustable seats in the second row of its cabin and can carry a maximum payload of 930kg
The KGM Musso EV is backed here by a 10-year/1,000,000km (whichever comes first) high-voltage battery warranty.
Tradesmen will also be interested in noting that the KGM Musso EV has a maximum payload of 930kg and the fact that its bed comes with tie-down points and a durable lining, while an integrated rear LED lamp also features here for easier loading or unloading in the dark.
The cabin of the KGM Musso EV features dual 12.3-inch displays that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger, and adjustable reclining rear seats.
Meanwhile, those more interested in logistics work are likely to be drawn to the Qingling EQ2.
Important to note is the fact that owners of a Qingling EQ2 will not need a Vehicle Parking Certificate to park one at a public carpark here in Singapore, and the vehicle can further be operated by those with a Class 3/3A driving license here in Singapore.
Don't imagine, however, that this means the Qingling EQ2 cannot deliver your goods to where they need to be. The vehicle comes equipped with a 100.46kWh battery, and posts a healthy WLTP range of 515km, so those looking to do last-mile delivery work and the like are likely to find it suitable.
Qingling Singapore states that owners will be able to configure their EQ2 to meet their business needs, so a refrigerated box can be added at the rear for food-related operations. Meanwhile, a covered box is available for goods that need to be sheltered from the elements or secured from theft, although open beds are also available.
The battery of the Qingling can be charged up at up to 120kW, so fleet operators can be assured that their downtime will be kept to a minimum. Power for the Qingling EQ2 comes from a Bosch electric drive system that delivers a total of 167kW and 420Nm of torque.
The Qingling EQ2 is offered here with a 10-year/400,000km battery warranty and a five-year/100,000km vehicle warranty. Qingling Singapore adds that the EQ2 qualifies for incentives including the Heavy Vehicle Zero Emission Scheme and the Electric Heavy Vehicle Charger Grant.
Interested parties can head down to the KGM Showroom and the Qingling Singapore Showroom, both located at 1094 Lower Delta Road, Motorway Building, Singapore 169205, to arrange for a viewing or test drive of either vehicle.
