Kia reveals new K4 sedan in the U.S.A

Kia has unveiled an all-new K4 sedan at the 2024 New York International Auto Show.

The car measures in at 4,709mm long and 1,849mm wide (that is, longer and wider than this Toyota Corolla Altis). These dimensions, Kia states, allow the K4 to offer class-leading levels of head and leg room for its rear passengers.

The Kia K4 gets a set of vertical rear taillights, as well as hidden rear door handles and can be had with 18-inch alloy wheels

The K4 compact sedan merges the dynamic proportions of the K5 sedan but comes with design features informed by Kia's latest 'Opposites United' design direction, so it gets vertical LED head lights and taillights inspired by those on the EV9. The sedan also gets its rear door handles hidden within its C-pillar, a touch said to emphasise the car's fastback proportions.

Customers in the U.S.A will be able to opt for the K4 in a 'GT-Line' trim which gets added touches including the use of gloss black accents at its front and rear, 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as gloss black mirror caps and window trims.

In its cabin, the Kia K4 is said to feature the same Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system as in the EV9. This system makes use of nearly 30 inches of combined digital displays, and is said to offer higher processing speeds. Use of the cockpit system also means wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard on the Kia K4.

The car will come with Kai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, which combines a total of nearly 30-inches of digital instrumentation

Also available here is Kia Connect's voice assistant system, which customers can activate simply by saying "Hey Kia", and offers easy access to the vehicle's climate control and audio settings, although Kia does states that it is working to enhance this system's functionality so users will also be able to utilise it to get information on topics including stocks, sports, local points of interest, and to retrieve content from their own owner's manual.

The Kia K4 is set to go on sale in the U.S.A equipped with a 2.0-litre engine that produces 145bhp and 179Nm of torque. This engine comes paired to an intelligently variable transmission and sends its power to the front wheels of the K4.

A 1.6-litre turbocharged engine will also be offered for the K4. This engine produces a total of 187bhp and a peak torque of 264Nm, and comes paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo and 'GT-Line' trim cars will also come with a multi-link rear suspension for a sportier driving experience.

The Kia K4 is expected to arrive in the U.S.A in the second half of 2024.
