LTA assures that cycling paths meet skid resistance standard
03 Aug 2025|176 views
The LTA has stated that the red coating on cycling path surfaces - besides serving as a visual cue for cyclists and pedestrians to identify their designated paths - meets the skid resistance index specified in its standards, which renders any grip reduction minimal.
Nonetheless, the authority is also reminding all path users to exercise caution on wet paths, with cyclists encouraged to slow down and ensure their bicycles are properly maintained with good tyre thread. Pedestrians should also ensure that their footwear provide sufficient grip.
Finally, the LTA has promised that it will continue to study ways to improve the safety of local paths for all users, particularly in wet conditions.
