The Land Transport Authority has announced on 5 June 2020 that its Authorised Inspection Centres (AICs) will resume vehicle inspection services for private cars, starting from 8 June, 2020.
In the announcement , the LTA stated that vehicle owners who have had their inspection deadlines deferred previously due to the circuit breaker measures will receive a notification from LTA. It also advised vehicle owners to adhere to the scheduled month indicated in its notification, and should also avoid weekday peak hours from 10:00am - 2:00pm where possible.
The LTA also encourages vehicle owners visiting the AICs to go alone, instead of in groups. All visitors to the AICs must also abide by the safe distancing measures which have been put in place, including the use of SafeEntry to check-in and check-out when entering and leaving the AIC, wearing a mask; and maintaining a safe distance from others.
The periodic inspection for private cars was previously deferred as LTA's AICs closed private car inspections as part of the governments' circuit breaker measures.
Vehicle owners whose periodic vehicle inspection deadline fell within the circuit breaker dates for private cars were granted a six-month extension to conduct their periodic car inspection due, while the LTA also allowed road tax for such private cars to be renewed for six months if they had valid insurance coverage.
