The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will start to replace 380 electronic signboards on expressways, which provide motorists with real time traffic information, from 16th September. The authority will also be installing 70 new signboards along four arterial roads.
In a statement released on Friday, the LTA said the new Expressway Monitoring Advisory System (EMAS) signboards on expressways will be more flexible and capable than the ones they replace as they allow text and simple graphics to be shown in up to seven colours.
The works are expected to be completed in 2017, which include 13 new signboards along the Central Expressway (CTE), East Coast Parkway (ECP), Pan Island Expressway (PIE) and on some parts of the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). Signboards will also be put up along arterial roads in areas such as Upper Jurong, Mountbatten Road and New Upper Changi Road.
