On other developments, back in June 2012, the company’s CEO Harald Wester revealed some details about a new mid-engine sports car which has been described as Maserati’s own Alfa Romeo 4C. The model was reported to have a curb weight of 1,200kg owing to its carbon fibre body and measures at 4,400mm long.

In terms of power, it won't be adopting the 4.7-litre V8 as seen in the GranTurismo as there are plans on a new twin-turbocharged V6 which would also be shared with the 4C. This engine is expected to output 442bhp and will be connected to a dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox, enabling the car to do the 0-100km/h sprint in approximately 4 seconds.
This year's Paris Motor Show looks to be an exciting one, with more and more new developments unfolding along the way. Maserati has now added spice to this already lively event. The Italian carmaker is also planning to break cover off a brand new 2-seater sports car, which will be set to compete against the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Ferrari 458. It was reported that Maserati had teased the new model in an e-mail that was sent to current owners.

It is likely that the model which will be making an appearance in Paris will probably be a concept model while the production version should come out in 2 to 3 years. The new model could very likely be the replacement for the GranTurismo coupe.
