Maserati has revealed its latest track creation to the world at the 24 Hours of Spa.
Simply called the Maserati GT2, the MC20-based racecar has been designed to bring the marque back into the realm of GT competitions, taking over where the MC12 had left after scoring victories from 2005 to 2010.
The Maserati GT2 retains the 621bhp Nettuno V6 of the MC20 although Maserati states that this engine has been taken 'to the extreme' in the GT2. This engine will be mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox in the GT2, in place of the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission of the MC20.
The racecar will additionally get a limited-slip mechanical self-locking differential developed for racing use, forged 18-inch center-lock wheels, and a racing-spec suspension setup with two-way adjustable dampers at both axles.
The Maserati GT2 is already set to make its debut on the track in the final stages of the 2023 Fanatec GT European Series, and is due to participate in the entire 2024 season.
