McLaren 650S to steal limelight at Gulf 12 Hour with GT3 variant

The McLaren 650S GT3 will enter the Gulf 12 Hour endurance race as the final leg of its development programme, ahead of customer deliveries in 2015.

Following its grand unveiling at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the McLaren 650S GT3 will attempt to steal the limelight again - this time round at the famous Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The 650S GT3 of Bell, Estre and Parente will wear the orange, white and black livery #59 car, while Peter Kox and Nico Pronk will drive in a livery of silver and white with striking red detailing

As the final phase of its development programme, McLaren will field two 650S GT3s, #59 and #60, at the Gulf 12 Hour endurance race.

Based on the McLaren 650S and built around an identical lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell chassis, the GT3 race car offers greater performance thanks to its race-prepped setup such as enhanced aerodynamics and more efficient cooling systems.

In fact, the development programme for the new GT3 race car has been run in parallel with the competitive running of 12C GT3s throughout 2014, benefiting from live track data from customer teams racing across the globe.

The final activity will see the two 650S GT3s face the toughest test to date, battling against a highly competitive grid of around 30 cars in the GT3 category.

The 2014 Gulf 12 Hour endurance race will be held on 12^th and 13^th December.
