Many people compared the SLR McLaren to the famous 300SL Gullwing of the 1950's. But, Mercedes put an end to that comparison when it introduced the 2010 SLS.
Naturally, the two companies had ended production a year earlier. But, McLaren is reviving the supercar for one last run down the preverbal autobahn.
Called the Mclaren Edition SLR, it's actually a kit for existing SLR's. However, it's not exactly a do-it-yourself conversion.
This McLaren-installed conversion includes a more aggressive body kit, steering & suspension upgrades, and a new interior. Plus, there's a generous application of McLaren badges, and a curiously understated treatment done to the 2 Mercedes emblems that were left on the outside of car.
McLaren says that they're only planning to do 25 of the McLaren Edition conversions. And, you can bet that they'll be expensive.
