Mercedes-Benz and Moncler unveil special G-Class variant

Mercedes-Benz and Moncler have collaborated to unveil a limited edition G-Class art piece alongside a capsule fashion collection.
The art piece, labelled "Project G-Class Past II Future", was unveiled at "The City of Genius" show in Shanghai on 19 October 2024.
Black exterior accents include the window frames, light metal alloy wheels and the signature bumper guard running the full length of the flanks
Based on a G-Class model from the 90s, its design was inspired by Japanese fashion designer NIGO, who also collaborated with Moncler and Mercedes-Benz to work on the former's new urban, gender-neutral fashion collection that will mainly consist of souvenir and college jackets, hoodies, and various other apparels with a vintage look.
Measuring 4.5m long, 1.9m wide, and 2.0m tall, the 90s-inspired art piece sports an olive green and grey matte two-tone paintwork balanced with exterior black and gold accents.
The chequered seat upholstery pattern is an interpretation of a design element typical of earlier G-Class models
Much of its original iconic features were retained, which include the spare wheel on the rear tailgate, black steel wheel in the 90s design, foldable windscreen, and a gold-coloured fuel can. In the interior, the music "boom boxes" are mounted on the convertible top, which can be removed.
Mercedes-Benz will also be launching a new G-Class model, the G-Class Past II Future, which was inspired by the art piece and based on the new G 450 d and the G 500.
Only 20 cars of this variant will be available and are slated for release in April 2025 alongside the capsule fashion collection.
