The other new engine for the E-Class is the twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre V8 that is fitted to the E500 BlueEfficiency. This new powerplant produces 402bhp and 600Nm of torque, a rise of 20bhp and 70Nm. This allows the E500 sedan to go from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and returns a fuel consumption figure of 8.9 litres per 100km.
Aside from the new engines, Mercedes-Benz has also implemented new and more efficient technologies to the rest of the E-Class range. For example, the E250 BlueEfficiency, E350 BlueEfficiency, E500 BlueEfficiency , E200 CDI, E220 CDI and E250 CDI all get the ECO Start/Stop system as standard, while Mercedes-Benz’s 7G-Tronic Plus seven speed automatic transmission is now available for the E250 BlueEfficiency, E350 BlueEfficiency and E500 BlueEfficiency.

The first new engine for the E-Class goes into the E350 BlueEfficiency model, and the unit is a 3.5-litre V6 that produces 302bhp and 370Nm of torque, an increase of 13bhp and 5Nm from before. This enables the E350 sedan to go from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds, and reach its electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h, while returning a fuel consumption figure of 6.8 to 7 litres per 100km.
