Mercedes-Benz has introduced what is described as the "quintessential everyday glamping vehicle with the three-pointed star" with the introduction of its 2026 Marco Polo model, built on the V-Class platform.
Said to be developed with a focus on new, smart details in the living area and even more in-house craftsmanship, the 2026 Marco Polo offers an improved pop-up roof featuring a lightweight double-shell aluminium structure that ensures high stability and excellent insulation in virtually any weather. In addition, integrated LED ambient lighting around the pop-up roof offers a variety of individually selectable lighting scenarios, while a new sliding roof brings even more daylight and fresh air into the interior and, come nighttime, offers an unobstructed view of the starry sky.
Upgraded features include a redesigned awning concept, while its upholstery is plastered in black Lugano leather
Other upgraded lifestyle features include a redesigned awning concept for flexible installation and removal, new magnetic blackout solutions that can be installed in the cockpit for privacy, a new sound system specially tuned for the model, new functions for the Marco Polo's Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control system, and improvements to its gear like the folding tables and energy-efficient cool box.
And for the first time, with the new Marco Polo model, Mercedes-Benz is relying on completely in-house production - from the body to the last interior detail. The V-Class base will be manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Vitoria, Spain. The vehicle will then be converted into the Marco Polo at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfelde, Germany. According to the brand, this guarantees the highest quality standard, greater flexibility, and shorter delivery times.
Moving forward, the brand has said that all future Mercedes-Benz vans will be based on the modular and flexible Mercedes-Benz Van Architecture. In addition to fully electric models of the Van Electric Architecture, the second iteration of the Van Architecture - the Van Combustion Architecture - will introduce state-of-the-art combustion engine vans. The Mercedes-Benz motorhomes will also follow this path by the end of the decade.
