Mercedes-Benz previews the new C63 AMG

The C63 AMG receives the same cosmetic changes as the recently-facelifted C-Class range, such as the new L-shaped headlamps, redesigned bumpers, new grille, and LED daytime running lights. In addition, the AMG model gets an aluminium bonnet and specially-styled alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet, the C63 AMG retains the 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine from the current version, which produces 457bhp and 600Nm of torque. However, it now comes with Mercedes-Benz AMG's new MCT 7-speed sports transmission. This enables the C63 AMG saloon to rocket from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds, and the Estate in 4.6 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz AMG will also offer a Performance Package featuring a lighter forged crankshaft and stronger pistons and connecting rods, which combine to churn out an additional 30bhp, bringing total power output to 487bhp. Carbon fibre mirror covers and black alloy wheels are also available with the Performance Package. AMG has also tuned the suspension to improve the car's handling.
