New models and technologies from Mercedes-Benz will be making their way to China during and around Auto China 2024.
Concurrently, a new R&D (Research and Development) Centre is slated to be opened in China around April this year. The building will be equipped with advanced hardware and software facilities, crafted to accelerate local development in cutting-edge digital innovations.
This comes on top of the R&D Centres that are already available in Beijing, which are equipped with state-of-the-art testing labs. Meanwhile, another Centre in Shanghai focuses on connectivity, automated driving and software and hardware development.
Besides the new building, world premieres of two new models will soon take place in China.
The first of these is the Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE, the latest high-performance sports car from Mercedes-AMG. Powered by a 4.0‑litre V8 biturbo engine, the car is able to hit 0-100km/h in just 2.9 seconds, before going on to hit a top speed of 316 km/h. The unveiling is set to happen during a special AMG Brand Night event in Shanghai, on 20 April.
The GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE will also make an appearance during the premiere of second, highly anticipated model: The first-ever electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which will be unveiled at the Art District 798 in Beijing on 24 April.
Mercedes-Benz says that G-Class - an off-road icon - displays a link between tradition and progress with its adaptation to the electric age. Joining the electric G-Class, the all-new G580 with EQ Technology will also be revealed at a global press conference on 25 April.
To top it all off, new models will be shown to the China market for the first time, starting with the Concept CLA Class. The Concept CLA Class displays the upcoming MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform and MB.OS while offering a peek into the future family of electric vehicles. The display of the MB.OS is crucial as the team in China have been involved in the development since the start, offering a hyper-personalised user experience and providing local customers with a more intelligent digital experience.
Finally, a host of upgrades has been teased for the Mercedes-Benz EQS Saloon, alongside additional premieres from the Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-Benz E-Class family.
