Mercedes eyes new seven seater B-class to rival VW Touran

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly hot in the midst of developing a seven-seat B-Class in bid to take the competition to the likes of the Volkswagen Touran & Opel Zafira and hopefully a good, wholesome piece of the market share.

The seven-seater is widely expected to ride on an extended version of the MFA platform and to have a longer rear overhang to accommodate two additional rear seats.

Engine options should be inherited from the standard model which includes 1.6-litre petrol engines with 121bhp and 200Nm of torque and with 154bhp and 250Nm of torque. Diesel engines include a 1.8-litre with 107bhp and 250Nm of torque and 1.8-litre with 134bhp and 300Nm of torque. 

The model could be unveiled as early as 2013, with reports suggesting a debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
