Need to make a big and bold statement? This Mercedes-Maybach GLS, now available in Singapore, will suit you well.
At 5,205mm long, 2,030mm wide, and 1,838mm tall, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS offers all the space, luxury, and presence anyone can expect out of an SUV.
At the front of the car sits a finely woven grille in high-grade chrome, alongside wide air inlets in the apron, both suggesting the power of the V8 lurking underneath. A high-gloss chrome underguard meanwhile, underlines the vehicle's refined SUV character.
Chrome is also utilised on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS' strut-mounted roof rails and B-pillar facings. Not that they will be distracting you from those multi-spoke design rims, available as either 22 or 23-inch items.
Of course, no SUV is complete without sizable running boards and the pieces of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS are no different, at more than two meters in length each, they both provide easy access and egress for all by electronically extending once the doors are opened. Each is said to be able to support a weight of up to 200kg.
An elegant Mercedes-Maybach badge on the D-pillar finishes off the car's details from the flank.
Once inside you'll find luxurious materials all over, as expected. A Nappa leather lined dashboard and the horizontal, chrome-look louvres of the air vents are just the start of affairs here.
Both the instrument cluster and media display (12.3-inch items as standard) here are housed behind a shared continuous glass surface to form a large free-standing screen.
But the back is the true business-end of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
The rear seats of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS are set 120mm further back than they are in the Mercedes-Benz GLS, working with that 3,135mm wheelbase to offer up to 1,103mm of rear leg room.
All that space makes it possible for the rear seats to house calf supports, while the rear seats can also be reclined for deep relaxation on long journeys or even a rejuvenating power nap.
Opt for the four-seater variant and you get a continuous centre console that flows into a storage compartment. But of course, you'll want to have this compartment refrigerated, in which case, it will be able to hold up to three 0.75-litre champagne bottles.
Passengers here can also access all the car's comfort features via the removable 7.0-inch MBUX Rear Tablet.
As with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, a combination of Mercedes' Airmatic air suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus, alongside E-Active Body Control will ensure occupants in the cabin are never stirred on the move.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 producing 550bhp and 730Nm of torque, configured for high drive comfort and, at the same time, high efficiency and effective emissions reduction. Mercedes' variable valve control system Camtronic is able to switch off up to four of the eight cylinders of the engine when loads are low.
