Mercedes-Maybach to ferry those visiting space

It seems like a host of auto manufacturers now have their eye on the final frontier.

After Rolls-Royce built this Cullinan inspired by the edge of space, and Toyota revealed its Baby Lunar Cruiser concept, Mercedes-Maybach has now announced that all who travel into space with Space Perspective - the world's first and only carbon-neutral spaceflight experience company - will now be ferried along in Mercedes-Maybach vehicles, when they are on the ground that is.

Mercedes-Maybach states that it will supply all-electric vehicles (read more about the Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 here) to shuttle Explorers and guests to and from Space Perspective facilities, local activities and the launch site on Florida's Space Coast, allowing Space Perspective customers to ride comfortably and sustainably to and from their trips to the edge of space.

Space Perspective aims to make spaceflight safer and more accessible than ever before, thanks to the use of its Spaceship Neptune, which is propelled slowly and safely to a height of 30km by a giant SpaceBalloon. Space Perspective states that this carbon-neutral approach is designed to be as gentle on the craft’s occupants as it is on the Earth. The capsule which the craft carries offers space for eight on top of one Captain and will offer passengers a world-class travel experience complete with meal and cocktail service.
