Mercedes to open its first charging hubs

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will open its first high-power charging stations in the third quarter of 2023.
The first Mercedes-branded charging hubs will go into operation in Atlanta, U.S.A; Chengdu, China; and Mannheim, Germany. The firm further aims to expand this charging network to over 2,000 high-power charging points by the end of 2024, with the goal of creating more than 2,000 charging hubs with over 10,000 charging points by the end of the decade.
These charging points will offer charging rates of up to 400kW and will utilise charging systems including CCS, NACS, and GB/T. Mercedes states that it will locate future charging stations at main traffic areas and select Mercedes-Benz dealerships, and these charging hubs will additionally offer refreshments and snacks, while offering restroom facilities.
To ensure the safety of its users, the charging stations will additionally be equipped with surveillance cameras. At selected locations these charging stations will also come with light poles that offer appropriate lighting and also offer information of the availability of the charging point and the charging status of the vehicle.
The charging network will be open to drivers of all vehicle brands, but Mercedes-Benz customers will enjoy the ability to reserve a charging point at these hubs via the Mercedes-Benz me Charge service.
The charging hubs will also enable the firm's customers to charge up with 100% renewable electricity through green electricity supply contracts wherever possible or by using renewable energy certificates from an accredited supplier.
