British automotive brand MG is staging a return to Singapore after a decade-long absence.
Imported by MG Singapore, a soon-to-be-formed company that will start operations as soon as late next month, the MG lineup will comprise of mainstream models. The company plans to set up a temporal site in the Kaki Bukit Car Mart, before setting up a permanent showroom and workshop.
Now owned by China's SAIC Group, the MG models bound for our local market will be assembled in Thailand. The lineup will include the MG6 - a 1.8-litre sedan based on the defunct Rover 75, and the MG3 - a 1.3-litre turbocharged hatchback that is built on a new platform.
Speaking to The Straits Times, Director of MG Singapore David Ng said the MG6 will be priced between a Toyota Altis and a Volkswagen Jetta, while the MG3 will be priced competitively against the Honda Jazz.
Mr. Ng added that the cars will come with a three-year warranty.
