MINI and Deus Ex Machina present two exclusive JCW cars

In collaboration with lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina, MINI has unveiled two exclusive, one-off John Cooper Works (JCW) cars. Both vehicle concepts are based on a MINI JCW model: The first, a MINI JCW Electric with up to 190kW, the second, a combustion engine-powered MINI JCW with 228bhp.
Each vehicle's roof features a large white 'X', a connecting element, which signals a significant design and the co-creation process between both brands. Visible seams, striking switches, and traditional levers emphasise the mechanical character of the cockpits. In addition, the materials and colours utilised throughout the vehicles create bold contrasts.
The pair of one-off models - called "The Skeg" and "The Machina" - are described as "kindred in spirit, opposite in energy", with The Skeg born of the coast: Shaped by surfboards, sea spray, and the stripped back rhythm of beach life; while The Machina is forged on the track: Lean, fast, and fuelled by a love of speed and precision.
The Skeg showcar's bodywork sports a vivid yellow and silver finish. Wide fenders, an illuminated front grille, and a roof spoiler sharpen its silhouette, while semi-transparent fibreglass panels strip 15% of its weight and refine its aerodynamic performance. At its rear, the Flex Tip Surf Spoiler's form draws from the concave underside of a board, redirecting movement, generating lift, and turning design into function.
Inside, The Skeg's analogue controls are stripped back, with its specially shaped shelves providing a practical storage solution. The neoprene upholstery in its lightweight racing bucket seats is flexible, water-repellent, and comfortable, while its fibreglass dashboard transfers the technology of surfboard construction into the automotive sector.
Moving on to The Machina, it sports a red, white and black paintwork, complete with bold accents and Deus lettering on its rear. Classic widened fenders nod to MINI's racing heritage, while four additional headlights mounted on the bonnet pay tribute to rally sport roots. Up front, a bespoke grille and perforated headlight surrounds enhance cooling performance, while at the rear, its diffuser is designed to optimise airflow and stability.
Inside, The Machina features a red, white, and black palette. Five-point racing harnesses secure the driver, while raw aluminium floor plates offer grip and echoes the utilitarian aesthetic found Deus' custom motorcycle workshops. Weight-saving is built into every surface, from the stripped-back door panels marked with bold white 'X' motifs, to the waxed fabric dash. Toggle switches are classic elements, with each button offering a clear function.
The highlight of the MINI JCW x Deus project's communication campaign will be its world premiere at the 2025 IAA Mobility event. The MINI JCW x Deus collaboration will be on display at the MINI Pavilion until 14 September 2025.
