Mitsubishi has revealed its new Colt hatchback.
Based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance's CMF-B platform also shared with the recently revealed Renault Clio, this new Mitsubishi Colt is said to reintroduce the Colt name to Europe for the first time in nine years.
The model, Mitsubishi states, has been developed by Renault, and will be manufactured at Renault's Bursa plant in Turkey.
And the similarities to the Renault Clio don't end there. On the outside, the new Colt sports head lights supported by LED elements positioned lower in the bumper just like on the Clio. The car does, thankfully, get its own Mitsubishi Dynamic Shield front grille. The rear of the Colt gets a wide bumper, designed give the car added visual stability.
Mitsubishi is offering the Colt with a hybrid drivetrain, comprising a 1.6-litre engine as well a 1.2kWh battery, delivering a total of 141bhp. European markets will also see the Colt available with a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or a 1.0-litre engine paried to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Mitsubishi Colt can be had with either Mitsubishi's 7.0-inch or 9.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio infotainment system, which will offer access to the different drive modes, as well as the controls for the interior ambient lighting. The car will also come with a Bose premium sound system.
The Colt is expected to arrive in European showrooms come October 2023.
