More COE supply incoming for upcoming quarter

The LTA has announced the COE quota for the quarter from February to April 2024.

The total number of COEs available for the quarter is now a total of 14,707, larger than the total of 14,388 COEs available in the quarter from October 2023 to January 2024.

The supply for Cat A COEs will increase to a total of 5,609 in the upcoming quarter, a 1.7% increase over the total of 1,513 COEs available in the quarter from October 2023 to January 2024

The LTA also states that from this upcoming quarter onwards, it will also bring forward the guaranteed deregistrations of five-year non-extendable Category D COEs to reduce quota supply volatility. This quarter is seeing a total of 312 COEs for Category D added from future guaranteed deregistrations.

The breakdown of available COE supply across all categories is reproduced in the table below:

The COE quota for February 2024 to April 2024 is 1.7% higher for Category A, 2.5% higher for Category B, and 3.6% higher for Category C compared to the last quarter. LTA states that the COE quota for categories A, B, and C will continue to increase in 2024 before reaching the peak supply period from 2026, while the quota for Category D in 2024 will remain comparable to the supply in 2023. COE supply for Category D - to be used for motorcycles - will remain the same in the upcoming quarter as the last, at 3,015.

The next quota announcement for the bidding period of May 2024 to July 2024 will be made in April 2024.
