Audi has announced the addition of new entry level engines to both its Q5 mid-sized soft roader and its A4 Allroad crossover.
Both cars are now available with a 143bhp 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine, which is the same unit that can be found in other Volkswagen Group products like the Jetta, Golf and standard A4. This gives a claimed fuel consumption figure of 6.5 litres per 100km for the Q5 and 6.2 litres per 100km for the A4 Allroad. Both cars will have six-speed manual gearboxes mated to the new engine.
In addition, the Q5 also has a new petrol engine to join the existing 3.2 litre V6 currently available. The new engine will be a 2.0 litre turbocharged TFSI direct injection four cylinder that produces 180bhp and an impressive 320Nm of torque. Audi claims this engine will offer the Q5 a fuel consumption figure of 8.4 litres per 100km, while propelling it from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds.
