Subaru has unveiled its all-new, all-electric Trailseeker and 2026 Solterra at the 2025 New York International Motor Show, which runs from 18 to 27 April 2025.
The new 2026 Subaru Solterra adds enhancements to its overall driving performance, battery efficiency, styling, and cabin comfort.
Its upgraded 74.7kWh battery pack, can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 35 minutes with a 150kW DC charger up, and gives the car a claimed range of 458km. Additionally, the car features a newly added battery preconditioning system that adds more than 25% of range as compared to its predecessor.
The new Solterra also debuts an all-new Subaru EV lighting signature with redesigned headlamps, a new front bumper design, and newly designed 18- and 20-inch wheels.
A new rear badge, rear gate garnish, and spoiler bring a distinctive nighttime lighting presence, as well as improved aerodynamic performance. Subaru has stated that the new Solterra is due for launch in the U.K. in early 2026.
The all-new Subaru Trailseeker, meanwhile, is said to combine an EV architecture with a familiar shape while retaining the brand's legendary Symmetrical AWD system and safety features.
The electric SUV will get a total power output of 375bhp via two electric motors (one at each axle), and makes use of the same 74.7kWh battery found on the Solterra, giving the car a claimed 418km of range. The car is said to offer a larger cargo area and taller roof compared to the Solterra.
As with the Solterra, the Symmetrical AWD system also comes as standard in the 2026 Trailseeker for enhanced off-road capability.
Interestingly, although it is called the Trailseeker in the U.S.A, its moniker for Europe and the U.K. is yet to be confirmed. Subaru states that the model is set to go on sale in the U.K. in the middle of 2026.
Subaru has also noted that both models will incorporate a suite of EyeSight driver-assist technologies such as Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure Alert. Both SUVs will also offer 210mm of ground clearance for off-roading ability and dexterity, which is a Subaru hallmark.
Furthermore, the new interiors of both cars will feature an all-new 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
New wireless 15W smartphone chargers for the driver and front passenger are standard, together with high-power USB-C charge points at the rear.
U.K. pricing and detailed specifications will be available for both vehicles closer to their respective launch dates.
