Subaru debuts 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid in the U.S.A

Subaru U.S.A has announced what it touts as the most efficient model ever to wear the Wilderness badge: The first-ever 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid SUV.

This newest addition to the lineup sees the integration of a next-gen, fuel-efficient Subaru Hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5-litre Subaru Boxer engine together with two electric motors, delivering a total system output of 192bhp. It also comes with longer coil springs and shock absorbers for a higher ground clearance (up from 8.7-inch to 9.3-inch). Larger, all-terrain Yokohoma Geolandar tyres mounted on Wilderness-exclusive 17-inch matt black wheels also improves grip on gravel and muddy terrain.

The 2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid is also tuned for both on- and off-road comfort thanks to sound-absorbing materials and a lighter, stiffer chassis

Raised, ladder-type roof rails with a 363kg static load capacity comes as standard on all Forester Wilderness Hybrid models, as well as 779 litres of cargo space with a power rear gate. This goes up to more than 1,954 litres with the rear seats folded down.

And in terms of tech, the 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid is equipped with a Subaru 11.6-inch Multimedia System with Navigation, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A configurable 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster with Apple Maps integration comes as standard, as well as a Harman Kardon Speaker System with 11 speakers.

Inside, Wilderness-exclusive grey textured StarTex seating surfaces offer a weather-resistant, easily cleanable interior, while standard all-weather mats and a cargo area protector help store muddy equipment.

Subaru has said that detailed specifications and pricing for the 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid SUV will be announced closer to the model's market launch in late 2026.
