The latest Sylphy has a tall hat to fill, and it continues to shine with class leading standards in terms of efficiency and space. The sedan has also been redesigned to portray a more upmarket feel, both on the exterior and interior.
The new Sylphy is available in two guises - 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre. The new engines boast an all-aluminium construction to enhance the driving and efficiency characteristics of the car.
The powerplants also feature a twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC) system which varies the intake and exhaust valve timings for smoother and more efficient operations.
Tasked to transmit the power to the wheels is a new generation of Continuous Variable Transmission gearbox - XTRONIC CVT. Besides promising better fuel economy, the new transmission also offers a wide gear ratio of 7:3:1 for more responsive acceleration.
On the inside, the Sylphy reflects an 'executive' feel through a more elegant and modern design, as well as the use of high-grade materials. Highlights include the soft-touch instrument panel and plush leather seats, as well as an exclusive Maple wood-tone trim for the 1.8-litre variant.
Sharing his enthusiasm for the new model, Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director of Tan Chong International Limited commented, "The all new redesigned Sylphy now has a closer resemblance to the popular luxury sedan, Nissan Teana, than a typical C-segment sedan."
He added, "By offering an upmarket design, a more luxurious interior, premium features, higher quality all round and better performance, yet without a premium price, Nissan has redefined the C-segment sedan category in Singapore."
At press time, the Sylphy retails for S$127,800 and S$147,800 for the 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre respectively. Prices include COE.
