Nissan has unveiled the all-new Leaf EV, the firm's first model to be launched under Nissan's EV36Zero blueprint. The model is set to roll off the production line of the brand's Sunderland U.K. plant, which will also see the arrival of the next generation Qashqai e-POWER in the coming months and the all-new fully electric third generation Juke in 2026.
With a drag coefficient of just 0.25, the Leaf's sleek design optimises airflow to enhance both performance and range. Flush door handles, a flowing roofline, full under floor cover, and sculpted surfaces create a modern profile, while its signature front and rear lighting delivers a distinct, high-tech identity.
Despite its compact exterior, the Leaf has a spacious interior that offers a total of 437 litres of cargo space. Access to the boot is made more convenient with the optional power liftgate, while selected variants also include roof rails, enabling the installation of accessory crossbars.
The Nissan Leaf is set to be offered in the U.K. in seven expressive exterior colour options, including the Leaf's unique turquoise Luminous Teal, while the interior trim comes in black or white with purple accents.
Built on the CMF-EV modular platform shared with the Nissan Ariya, the Leaf is designed to support the driver with a suite of intuitive features such as Google built-in (offering access to Maps, Assistant, and Play Store) and the Connectivity app, which allows remote access to battery status, charging, cabin temperature pre-conditioning, journey planning, etc.
The new Nissan Leaf comes with two different batteries: Standard (52kWh) and Extended (75kWh), the latter of which is said to be able to offer up to 604km of range on a single charge. This battery can also be fast charged at up to 150kW via a direct current charger, allowing up to 418km of range to be added in 30 minutes. The extended range battery Leaf is set to be launched sometime later in 2025.
And Nissan's electrification journey doesn't stop with the Leaf, Qashqai, and Juke. Nissan additionally states that the fully-electric Micra, designed in London, will go on sale in the U.K. later this year, which the firm is set to follow with a smaller city car come 2026.
