The ninth generation Honda Civic was unveiled at the Kah Motor Honda Showroom to a crowd of media and prospective customers. The new facet can be instantaneously differentiated from its predecessor, sporting a more sleek and aerodynamic profile. Works though, are more than skin-deep.
Mr. Vincent Ng, Product Manager at Kah Motor, affirms that four variants will be brought into the local market, namely the 1.6A, 1.8A, 2.0A and 1.5 CVT Hybrid. "This is to best meet the individual needs of our customers," says Mr Ng.
9th Gen Honda Civic (1.6A, 1.8A, 2.0A, 1.5 CVT Hybrid)
The ninth generation Civic has been revised extensively, to achieve enhanced efficiency and retain the sportiness and driving dynamics that is associated with Honda cars. For instance, a more streamlined profile is created with the windscreen shifted forward and raked at a more acute angle. Together with a flat under-floor and low-drag side mirrors, the drag coefficient is reduced by a significant 3.4%.The new Civic has achieved top ratings in European safety standard. It features in-house developed G-Control system, which enhances energy management during a collision through load bearing structures mounted at the front of the vehicle. The car also boosts a number of safety equipments, such as Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), dual-stage multiple-threshold front and side airbags with occupant position detection system, and a four-channel Anti-lock braking with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake assist.
The Civic Hybrid receives a number of refinements, notably the conversion to Lithium-Ion batteries, which has a higher power density ratio and a longer service lifespan. It also features the latest generation Honda Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system, coupled to a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The new system packs more punch, delivering 110bhp and promises faster accelerations, yet at the same time achieving better fuel efficiency. All variants of the Civic line-up will be equipped with a Multi-Information Display (i-MID) and feature Honda’s innovative Eco Assist. Smart Key Access system is also standard on the 1.8, 2.0 and Hybrid variants, as well as factory fitted Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System and a 6.2-inch TFT touch screen display.
