Nissan seeks help of Blue Angels for future products

The Nissan personnel observed the Blue Angels in action, and met with ground crew and pilots. Nissan is exploring ways of applying speed and power that Air Force pilots undergo for future automotive products, probably for the next GT-R R36 or Infiniti IPL Line. As part of the programme the Blue Angels team members drove some of Nissan's performance products.
The Nissan team gathered insights about how pilots interact with their cockpit instruments panel in different situations for the development of future vehicles. The pilots also gave the Nissan team feedback on the Nissan vehicles.
"We're always looking for inspiration beyond the auto industry in the design and development of our performance vehicles, and the Blue Angels have set the standard for high-speed excellence throughout their 66-year history. It was beneficial not only to study the designs of the 'Angels' F-18s up close but to get an understanding of how pilots and service personnel interact with their jets," said Jared Haslam, Senior Manager, Product Planning - Nissan Americas.
The Nissan personnel gathered a number of creative ideas to be put into future concepts that will eventually be passed along to Nissan customers.
A team of designers and product planners from Nissan recently visited Florida, to visit the United States Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron training facility. Their objective? Find inspiration.
