Charging up the Polestar 3 is set to become easier for many in Europe. The firm has announced that it will be introducing Plug & Charge, an authentication and billing system, for the Polestar 3.
The new system will allow automated communication and billing processes between the electric vehicle and the charging station, making public charging for customers easier than before. With the new system, the Polestar 3 will be able to act like a digital wallet, authenticating the user and communicating directly with compatible public chargers, removing the typical steps of setting up a charging session.
This means that customers can now simply plug in their Polestar 3 to the charging station and enjoy a seamless charging process once they arrive at a desired charging destination. There will be no need to select the correct charging location, confirm which individual charger they are connected or to initiate payment or authenticate the charging session via the Polestar Charge App or with the Polestar Charge card.
Plug & Charge is currently available at over 9,500 high-power charging points including selected Ionity and Mer locations.
Polestar 3 drivers who want to make use of the new feature can activate the function via the car’s infotainment system and then connect it to the Polestar Charge App or another e-mobility service provider. The Polestar Charge app offers access to over 800,000 public charging points across Europe as well as subscription based fast charging with discounted rates at thousands of public charging locations.
This feature is set to arrive in other Polestar models come 2025.
