Polestar and StoreDot to develop extreme fast charging tech
12 Nov 2023|201 views
Polestar has announced that it is working with electric vehicle lithium-ion battery developer StoreDot to bring extreme fast charging technology to production.
The technology is being dubbed '100-in-5', as it is capable of adding 100 miles (160km) or range in just five minutes of charging. Polestar states that the technology can be integrated into battery pack formats that are already available, and does not need to rely on a battery pack design revolution.
StoreDot has already held a charging demonstration of its XFC pouch cell, while Polestar already has a prototype battery module that integrates this XFC technology, both of which were revealed at the Polestar Day in Los Angeles. The two firms are scheduled to demonstrate StoreDot's XFC technology at full scale in a Polestar 5 prototype come 2024.
