Polestar has confirmed that the Polestar 5 is set to get a new powertrain, ahead of the debut of a prototype version of the all-electric car at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The high-performance electric four-door is said to offer proper sports car credentials, thanks to a lightweight, high-rigidity bonded aluminium chassis, alongside a new 800V architecture, and a high-output front electric motor, which Polestar states will bring the car's dual-motor powertrain to a peak output of 872bhp and 900Nm.
The Polestar 5 will run up the iconic Goodwood hill twice daily the 2022 festival. The car is planned for an international launch in 2024 and will be the third of three new EVs expected to be launched by Polestar in the coming three years, following the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 all-electric SUVs.
