Polestar dropped its emissions per car by 6% in 2021

Polestar has announced in its second Annual Review and Sustainability report that it has dropped its total emissions per car sold by 6% in 2021. The reduced emissions per vehicle, the firm states, come as a result of increased focus on efficiency, as well as the use of renewable energy by the firm.

Beyond simply reducing the per vehicle emissions, 2021 also saw ambitious environmental projects from Polestar which included the start of its Polestar 0 project, which aims to create a truly climate-neutral car by 2030 together with a host of partner companies.

Polestar has also continued its partnership with Circulor, which saw the implemention of blockchain traceability of mica, in addition to cobalt that is already traced in the batteries of the Polestar 2 from material source to finished product.

Polestar aims to halve carbon emissions per sold car between 2020 and 2030 and to reach climate neutrality across its value chain by 2040.
