Could a new Polestar 4 estate be in the works?

The Polestar lineup is set to become a lot more interesting in the coming years.
The firm has announced that it is now readying itself to conduct the largest model offensive in its history, with a total of four new cars planned in the next three years.
Polestar has announced that a new generation Polestar 2 is set to make its debut come 2027, while the Polestar 7 will make its international debut come 2028
The first of these shouldn't be a surprise to anybody: Built atop a new lightweight bonded aluminium platform, the Polestar 5 four-door grand tourer already made its international debut in 2025, and deliveries of the car are set to begin in mid-2026 (catch our first impressions of the car here).
More interesting is Polestar's addition that it will launch a new variant of the Polestar 4. The firm is remaining cagey on just what this variant is exactly, but a teaser image shows the car equipped with what (to our eyes) appears to be a roof rack.
Add to this the fact that Polestar states this new variant will "target a wider customer base by offering more versatility", before further reminding us that "Sweden is famous for its estate cars" in its little blurb, and we can't help but wonder if this could be the first image of a new estate variant of the Polestar 4.
And for those who cannot get along the digital rear-view mirror and covered rear of the current Polestar 4, take heart - peek closely and you'll find that this new variant of the Polestar 4 looks set to get an actual rear windscreen.
There are also renewals at hand. Polestar adds that the Polestar 2 (catch our review of the current-generation model here) is set to get a completely new generation, planned for launch come early 2027. This car is near completely obscured by the frosted cover in the teaser image, but looks set to feature a new head light design more akin to the current Polestar 4.
Finally, slated to launch in 2028 is the new Polestar 7. Described as a compact premium SUV, Polestar has simply revealed that the car will be a performance-driven option, and that it will be built in Europe while being offered at an attractive price point.
Ambitious expansion of its lineup aside, Polestar plans to deliver double-digit retail volume growth, alongside a continued retail expansion of 30% for 2026.
