Porsche 911 GT2 RS official details released

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be officially unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show on 25 August, and will go on sale across Europe from September 2010 and in the US from October 2010. Only 500 units of the 911 GT2 RS will be produced, and will be powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged boxer engine that produces 620bhp and is able to go from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0-200km/h in 9.8 seconds, and 0-300km/h in 28.9 seconds. Top speed is quoted at 330km/h.

The 911 GT2 RS loses 70kg from the 911 GT2, weighing in at just 1370kg. The weight loss is achieved thanks to extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced (CFR) components, such as on the bucket seats, as well as matte black paint on the interior and nylon straps for the door handles. GT2 RS badges on the doors and rear lid help mark the car out.

Performance enhancements on the 911 GT2 RS include anti-roll bars and Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM), along with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, Porsche's carbon ceramic brakes and new tyres measuring 245/35 ZR 19 at the front and 325/30 ZR 19 at the rear developed specially for the car.
