Porsche has officially launched the 911 Spirit 70 in Singapore. Created as part of the Heritage Design strategy, this marks the third 911 model that harkens back to an earlier era, following the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition presented in 2020, and the 911 Sport Classic unveiled in 2022. The 911 Spirit 70 was first unveiled at Auto Shanghai earlier this year, and this marks the model's Southeast Asia debut.
The Spirit 70 sees Porsche pay homage to the bold, glitzy vibrancy of the 70s and early 80s - think disco, individuality and glamour.
Based on the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the Spirit 70 gets distinctive design touches like the new Olive Neo paintwork, as well as gold-coloured lettering at the rear
Forming the mechanical basis for this limited edition model is the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, which features the brand's first-ever hybrid powertrain known as the T-Hybrid. This also marks the formal public introduction of the GTS range in Singapore (though the GTS models were introduced concurrently with the facelifted 992.2 Carrera, and have already been open for orders since). The new T-Hybrid powertrain features a newly-developed 3.6-litre engine, and with electrical assistance sends a combined 534bhp and 610Nm of torque to the rear wheels (you can read more about the powertrain here).
Any limited edition model needs a unique look, and so for the 911 Spirit 70 a new Olive Neo colour was developed. Set against this rich, deep green, the lower rear section, the front section and the Sport Classic wheels (echoing the classic Fuchs rims) are painted in a grey-gold Bronzite colour.
The three stripes on the bonnet echo the safety stickers from the 70s, while the Porsche crest is almost identical to the original one from 1963
Additionally, there are also three decorative stripes in black silk gloss that run across the bonnet, reminiscent of the safety stickers from the 1970s. The crest on the bonnet is also almost identical to the one from 1963. And to bump up the glitz factor, the Porsche Heritage badge on the grille of the boot lid, Porsche lettering and model designation are all plated in gold.
Arguably the most stunning design element is in fact found within the car - the iconic Pasha fabric pattern, here finished in Black/Olive Neo. The varying sizes and shapes create a 'flowing' effect, reminiscent of a moving chequered flag. The centre panels of the 18-way sports seats Plus, the door cards and even the inside of the glove compartment are covered in the Pasha pattern. The decorative inlays on the seat backrests and the trim on the dashboard are also available in Pasha as an option.
Other throwback touches include the white pointers and scale lines in the dials of the instrument cluster (when in 'analogue' format). The digits are also then coloured green, reminiscent of the original Porsche 356. This same white/green scheme is found on the Sport Chrono stopwatch.
The 911 Spirit 70 has an indicative starting price of $1,095,188, but if that number doesn't faze you one bit, you may also want to consider some accompanying fashion accessories. There's a matching watch exclusively for buyers of this model (featuring the same Pasha pattern), and you can also pair that with a collection of daywear, sportswear, lifestyle accessories and model vehicles from the Porsche Lifestyle Collection (not exclusive to buyers of this model, of course).
The 911 Spirit 70 is limited to just 1,500 examples worldwide, and Sgcarmart understands that just two have been allocated to Singapore (word has it that one is already spoken for).
Porsche also showcased the 911 Turbo 50 Years, another limited edition model of which just a single one is available in Singapore
Alongside the launch of the 911 Spirit 70, Porsche also showcased a second special model - the 911 Turbo 50 Years. It is limited worldwide to just 1,974 units (paying homage to the original Turbo's launch in 1974), and only one is available in Singapore. This single unit is fitted with the Heritage Design Package, which finishes the car in an Aventurine Green Metallic paintwork. The Sport Classic wheels are finished in Brilliant Silver and White (satin finish).
The cabin features a tartan design inspired by the "Mackenzie" pattern, and can be found on the seats, decorative panels on the dashboard and glove compartment, and on the door cards as well.
Based on the 992.1 Turbo S, the car packs a 3.7-litre engine that pushes out 641bhp and 800Nm of torque.
Both the 911 Spirit 70 and 911 Turbo 50 Years are currently on display at Level 2 of the Porsche Studio at Guoco Midtown, and interested buyers with appropriately deep pockets should make an appointment to view the cars.
