Porsche appoints Tobias Suhlmann as new Head of Design

Porsche has announced that from 1 February 2026, Tobias Suhlmann will succeed Michael Mauer as Head of Design for the German automobile manufacturer.

Having started as Porsche's fourth Head of Design in 2004, Mauer has previously been responsible for Porsche design for more than two decades. He and his team have also been responsible for the transition of the 911's iconic design into the modern era, as well as applying the Porsche DNA onto the newer model series.

In addition, Mauer was also responsible for the revision of the Cayenne, the new Panamera, and the 918 Spyder super sports car.

For now, Mauer will support Suhlmann in a transitional period. The latter started out at Volkswagen in 2005, before moving on to Bugatti as Head of Exterior Design. His previous appointments also include roles at brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley, and he was also Chief Design Officer at McLaren after joining them in 2023.
