Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race series to debut in Singapore!

Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd today announced two prestigious Singaporean partners for the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2008 season: Leading luxury residential property developer, SC Global Developments Limited; and DBS, one of the largest financial services groups in Asia. SC Global will be title sponsor of Round 9 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia at the 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix in September. The name of the race was officially announced today as the 'Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup Asia - Singapore 2008'.
In addition, SC Global will be the series' Official Real Estate Partner for the entire 2008 season, which gets underway at the 2008 FORMULA 1� Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend.
New Cup Car
Friday also saw the launch of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Cup car, which will be driven by no less than eighteen exceptional sportscar drivers from across Asia, the Pacific and Europe. All will be racing with identical 2008-spec, Michelin-shod Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars that will take to the Sepang International Circuit for the first two races of the 11-round season. The new car, built by Porsche Motorsport in Weissach, Germany, boasts a 420bhp engine, an increase of 20bhp over last season's model, additional torque, and an upgraded gearbox. Design modifications which, combined with the engine upgrades, will further enhance performance ensuring even faster and more exciting racing this season, include the bumper panel from the 911 GT3 road car at the rear.
As for Singapore, each of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars lining up on the grid for the start of the historic September race will bear the name of SC Global.
