Porsche Impact, the Zuffenhausen-based sports car manufacturer's carbon dioxide (CO2) compensation programme, is now available in 15 additional countries, namely Singapore, China, Canada, Brunei, Cambodia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia and the Philippines.
This follows a successful pilot in Germany, Great Britain, Poland, and the U.S.A, which took place between December 2018 and April 2020, and had around 45,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide offset.
Porsche customers are now able to actively neutralise their vehicle's CO2 emissions with an online calculator where they can determine and offset the CO2 footprint of their sports car by financially supporting projects.
As a company, Porsche is also participating in the compensation option, which was developed in association with its subsidiary Porsche Digital. Since the end of November 2018, the CO2 emissions of the Porsche AG fleet have been neutralised.
Porsche Asia Pacific also made a further commitment by offsetting the CO2 emissions of the regional premiere of the Taycan, the first fully-electric Porsche, as well as the company car fleet in 2019. As part of Porsche Impact, customers can choose between various internationally certified projects - the available initiatives focus on forest protection in the U.S.A, sustainable habitat protection in Zimbabwe, and energy generation through hydro and wind power in Vietnam and China.
The particular compensation contribution is based on consumption, annual mileage and the selected support programme. For example, the compensation amount for a Porsche vehicle that has driven 15,000km with an average consumption of 12L/100km is between $69 and $179 per year.
In addition to compensation programmes like Porsche Impact, the company prioritises measures to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions.
For example, at its main Zuffenhausen factory, Porsche exclusively uses electricity from renewable energies and biogas for heat generation. The production of the fully-electric Porsche Taycan at the site is also CO2-neutral. With these measures and programmes, the company continues to strengthen efforts to combine the fascination of driving a sport car with resource-efficient mobility, ultimately supplementing the company's aim to become the most sustainable premium sports car manufacturer in the world.
