Porsche launches 911 and Cayenne in GTS 'flavour'

As though it had found more reasons to further diversify its already extensive range of models, Porsche has unveiled two new additions to the 911 and Cayenne families - the 911 Carrera GTS and Cayenne GTS. The 'GTS' moniker stands for Gran Turismo Sport, and stems from the legendary 904 GTS - a sole-minded race car that achieved significant success in the field of motorsports.

The 911 Carrera GTS models will sport the wider bodies of the four-wheel drive 911s to boast a more sporting stance, and come standard with size 20 wheels finished in menacing-looking matte black.
Under the deck lid lies the 3.8-litre flat-six from the Carrera S, tuned for 30 more horses to produce 430bhp. Equipped with the seven-speed dual clutch PDK gearbox, the 911 GTS Coupe is capable of completing the century sprint in four seconds flat, while the Cabriolet takes 4.2 seconds to achieve the same feat.
Like before, the 911 GTS will come with the Sport Chrono package that features dynamic engine mounts and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damper system, which lowers the car's ride height by 10mm, to offer more evocative and dynamic performance. Sports Exhaust system, identifiable by the quad tailpipes, is also standard on the 911 GTS models to heighten the aural experence.
Cayenne GTS
Replacing the 4.8-litre naturally aspirated lump in the predecessor is a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged V6 that catapults the Cayenne GTS from nought to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds (5.1 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package). Sourced from the Cayenne S, the new powerplant is more powerful by 20bhp and 85Nm (to deliver 440bhp and 600Nm of torque), and yet more fuel efficient. Like the 911 Carrera GTS, the Cayenne GTS will come with Sports Exhaust system as standard.
With the standard steel-spring suspension, the Cayenne GTS sits 24mm lower, while the difference is 20mm with the optional air suspension. To provide better show-stopping force, the vehicle also inherits brakes from the Cayenne Turbo with 390mm discs on the front axle and 358mm at back (inclusive of red brake callipers in typical Turbo fashion).
Expect more GTS variants to arrive on our shores in the near future - such as the new Targa 4 GTS, which we recently laid our hands on in Malaga, Spain.

911 Carrera 4 GTS - from $598,988
911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet - from $628,488
