Customers have the option of going for plain black or the optional metallic Basalt Black tone for the paintwork, while the folding roof of the Convertible model is also finished in black. There are also 19-inch 911 Turbo II forged alloy wheels with a glossy black trim and the black-finished, four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake callipers.
The black theme continues for the interior, with black leather seats, a SportsDesign steering wheel, a numbered plaque on the glove compartment lid, aluminium look trim on the gear lever and air vents, a painted centre console, and Black Edition door entry guards. Standard equipment includes a BOSE audio system with 13 speakers, Porsche Communication Management with navigation, parking assistant, cruise control, automatic dimming mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers.
The 911 Carrera Black Edition is based on the standard 911 Carrera, which is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six engine that produces 341bhp and 390Nm of torque. When mated to the standard six-speed manual gearbox, this enables the car to go from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds for the Coupe, and 5.1 seconds for the Convertible, with both models having a top speed of 289km/h.
Buyers can also choose Porsche's PDK twin-clutch transmission, which shaves off 0.2 seconds from the century run for both the Coupe and Convertible, dropping to 4.7 and 4.9 seconds respectively. Other options include the Sport Chrono Plus package that includes the "Launch Control" function, which cuts another 0.2 seconds off the sprint run to 100km/h.
