Following the opening of Audi's third charging hub in April 2023, Porsche has now opened its own Charging Lounge located outside Bingen am Rhein in Germany.
Designed to meet the requirements of Porsche drivers embarking on long journeys, Porsche's first Charging Lounge currently comes with six 300kW direct current chargers as well as four 22kW alternating current chargers. Come early 2024, however, charging speeds of up to 400kW will also be offered at this Charging Lounge. The electricity for these chargers comes from certified renewable sources.
The Charging Lounge is said to be located close to busy routes with significant traffic flow, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Payment for the charging is handled by the Porsche Charging Service, and the Charging Lounges are also displayed in the navigation system of users vehicles.
The location also offers a lounge area complete with modern sanitary facilities, as well as a large selection of soft drinks and snacks, all for users to enjoy while waiting for their car to charge up. The facility is additionally heated and air-conditioned by a heat pump that operates without fossil fuels, and part of the building’s electricity demand is supplied by solar cells on its roof.
Porsche states that it plans to open new Charging Lounge in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
